Cancellation & Refund Policy.

How to cancel a Beachread membership, what happens when you do, and when you can get money back.

Last updated: 30 September 2026

Cancelling

Membership renews automatically every year. We email you 30 days before each renewal with the date and the amount, so it never comes as a surprise.

Cancel any time in Settings → Manage or cancel, which opens your Stripe billing portal. Your membership stays active until the end of the year you paid for, and it will not renew. A founding membership that lapses gives up the founding price; rejoining is at the standard price.

Deleting your account (Settings → Delete account) cancels an active membership immediately. If you are still within your first 14 days and want your money back, withdraw first (see below) or write to us.

Refunds

  • In your first 14 days: a full refund, no questions asked. See "Right of withdrawal" below.
  • After 14 days: cancelling stops the next renewal and your membership stays valid until the end of the year you paid for. We do not refund the rest of a year already started.
  • Renewals: if your membership renews and you did not mean it to, write to hello@beachread.club and we will cancel it and refund the renewal.
  • If we stop offering Beachread in your city, shut Beachread down, or close your account for a reason that isn't your fault, we refund the unused part of your year, counted in whole days.
  • If we suspend or close your account because you broke the rules, your membership won't renew, and we refund the unused part of your year. We handle these by hand and confirm by email.
  • Deleting the Beachread app from your phone doesn't cancel your membership. Cancel in Settings, or delete your account.

If the standard price ever changes, we tell you at least 30 days before your renewal, in the renewal email. The new price only applies if you let the membership renew. A founding membership keeps its price while it stays active.

Unused check-ins have no cash value, do not roll over between months and are not refunded.

Right of withdrawal (EU and UK consumers)

You can withdraw from a new membership within 14 days of the day you joined, without giving a reason. We refund everything you paid, in full, even if you have already used check-ins.

  • In the app: Settings → Withdraw from contract here (also on the membership page), then confirm. Your membership ends straight away.
  • Or by email: send a clear statement that you are withdrawing to hello@beachread.club from the address on your account, for example using the model form below.

We confirm your withdrawal by email and refund you within 14 days of receiving it, to the card you paid with, at no cost to you. The 14 days apply when you join (or rejoin after a membership has ended), not to automatic renewals; for those, see Refunds above.

Model withdrawal form (complete and return it only if you wish to withdraw): To Record Scratch OÜ, Narva mnt 5, 10117 Tallinn, Estonia, hello@beachread.club. I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the provision of the following service: Beachread membership. Joined on: … Name: … Email address on the account: … Date: …

Payment problems

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and emails you. While a payment is outstanding your membership card and check-ins are paused; they resume when the payment goes through. Stripe tries again for up to three weeks. If the payment still hasn't gone through by then, the membership ends. You can rejoin any time; a founding member who rejoins pays the standard price.

If a charge looks wrong, please write to us before disputing it with your bank. We can usually fix it faster, and a bank dispute can take weeks.
